Dancing Scabiosa, Butterfly Blue (original)
I started this painting sitting cross-legged in my garden, observing these wonderful flowers that appear to dance in the breeze. When I had to composition set up, I took it into my studio to finish. I find it can be easier to see the actual artwork when the subject isn't around to refer to.

A NOTE ABOUT PASTEL
Unlike most types of painting, pastel is a dry medium. It is pure powdered pigment in the form of a stick, allowing it to have a close association with drawing.
