"Squirrels in October" Original Pastel Painting, 11"x14"
"SQUIRRELS IN OCTOBER"
I think squirrels are one of the most interesting animals to watch. They have such an amusing personality! This original pastel painting shows a delightful squirrel hunting through the fallen leaves in search of a snack. In the background, several of his friends are following suit.
I created this painting with reference to a photo I took at the Richardson Nature Center in Bloomington, MN. In a quiet room at the top of the stairs, they have a row of rocking chairs which face a large viewing window. I always feel welcome to take a break and watch the wildlife when I visit.

A NOTE ABOUT PASTEL
Unlike most types of painting, pastel is a dry medium. It is pure powdered pigment in the form of a stick, allowing it to have a close association with drawing.
A NOTE ABOUT FRAMING
Pastel paintings need to be framed behind glass and handled with care to prevent damages. Professional framing is best, ideally with museum quality glass.
Your painting will arrive unframed, with a cardboard support and wrapped in glassine paper to keep it safe while in transit. I highly recommended having it framed professionally. I'm happy to advise you on framing options, just let me know if you have any questions!
